Pain is Power

“being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,”

Colossians 1:11 (NIV)

Reflection

Recently, I shared a personal testimony about a 'thorn in my side' that keeps me honest and humble, relying on God's grace amidst life's struggles. This reflection echoes the Apostle Paul's words, reminding us that our weaknesses can become pathways to experiencing God's strength. Colossians 1:11 encourages us to find endurance and patience through God's power. Just as I've turned to God's grace to combat addictions and my own pride, you too are invited to lean on divine strength in your challenges. God's Word reassures us that His grace is sufficient, and in our frailty, His power is made perfect.

Insight

Biblical history shows that even the most faithful servants of God, like Paul, faced persistent struggles. Paul's 'thorn in the flesh' was never removed, yet it became a source of deeper reliance on God. This illustrates that challenges can refine and strengthen our faith rather than diminish it. The early Christians in Colossae also faced pressures, yet Paul's letter reassured them of the power available through Christ.

Key Takeaway

Our struggles can be the very thing that draws us closer to God, reminding us of His sufficient grace and mighty strength.

Question to Sit With

What 'thorns in your side' might God be using to draw you closer to His grace?

Today's Challenge

Identify a struggle you face today and consciously entrust it to God, seeking His strength and grace to guide you through.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You aware of our weaknesses and the 'thorns' we each bear. Grant us the grace to rely on Your strength, just as the author found humility and honesty through their struggles. May Your power sustain us and provide the endurance we need to overcome challenges. Thank You for the promise that Your grace is sufficient for us. Amen.
