The Great War for our Spirit

“But they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 (ASV)

Reflection

Sometimes in life everything can seem overbearing and you may feel like you want to give up. We only have so many hours in a day, a finite amount of energy we can give, and so few things to deal with stress in a healthy way. Isaiah 40:31 speaks directly into these scenarios, promising that those who depend on God will find renewed vigour. This ancient assurance mirrors the perseverance needed in today's world. The modern age is exaughsting, social media can leave us emotionally numb and neurotic. However, the lesson is simple - when we have nothing left, turn to Christ for in his strength we are made whole again. Quiet your mind for 3 minutes each morning and think of nothing but God sitting next to you. Talk to him about thoughts that you hear on replay in your head. Then give all of it up to him and have faith that he will show up in his perfect timing.

Insight

Isaiah originally addressed an audience experiencing exile and despair, offering a prophetic message of hope and renewal. Just as the exiled Israelites looked towards divine deliverance, today we too can draw parallels when facing personal or global crises. The imagery of soaring eagles underscores a universal principle of rising above circumstances by relying on God's enduring strength. This message transcends time, proving that God's truth remains relevant across millennia.

Key Takeaway

'Waiting on God revives our strength,' reminding us that divine endurance flows into our lives when we most need it.
