Words of Unity: The Komba Bible Celebration
“Jesus answered, 'It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’'”
Matthew 4:4 (NIV)
Reflection
The recent completion and dedication of the Komba Bible in Ghana marks a monumental moment for the Komba people and all who cherish God's Word. After 16 years of diligent translation work by teams including Rev. Samson Bilafanim, Rev. Emmanuel Mananyina, and Mr. James Adongo Wajak, the Bible can now speak directly in the heart language of the Komba. This achievement reflects our verse today from Matthew 4:4, emphasizing the sustenance that comes from every word of God. As the Komba people digest this spiritual bread, it promises to nourish and transform their community.
Insight
In biblical times, the translation and transmission of Scriptures were equally crucial. The Septuagint—a Greek version of the Hebrew Bible—was created for Jews living in the diaspora. Similar to the translation work for the Komba, it was imperative that people heard God's Word in their own tongue to fully grasp and live out His teachings.
Key Takeaway
The power of God’s Word transcends all languages, bringing unity and transformation to all who receive it.
