My Beloved Son

“While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.”

Matthew 17:5-8 (ASV)

Reflection

Our ability to hear the Lord is directly related to our relationship with Him. Yes, once we receive Christ as Savior, we have been granted salvation and are eternally secure in Him. But God wants us to grow stronger in our faith by constantly drawing closer to Him over the course of our life. That changes how we approach Him, doesn’t it? We can come to Him boldly and joyfully, confident in our relationship with the heavenly Father, assured that He loves us, forgives us, and rejoices in our prayers.

Insight

Matthew 17:5-8 - God's voice from a cloud declares Jesus as His beloved Son, telling the disciples to listen to Him. The disciples fall down terrified, but Jesus touches them and says "Don't be afraid." When they look up, only Jesus remains. Divine confirmation of Jesus' identity, followed by His reassuring human touch.

Key Takeaway

'Trust in the Lord' isn’t just spiritual advice; it’s a practical blueprint for navigating modern complexities.
